As many of you know, Shane Ford had a devastating motorcycle wreck when a vehicle pulled out in front of him on November 13th. When Shane arrived at MCH, he was given a .03% chance to survive. After numerous surgeries, and more to come, he is still in ICU. He has made miraculous strides, but still has a long way to go. Shane has a little boy, Hayden, as well as countless growing hospital bills. As we give thanks at this time of year, we ask that you help in any small way possible. God bless.

Shane Ford was born to James and Vikki Ford. It was a happy time for all. However, it was short lived. His parents divorced before he was 2 years old. Vikki did the best she could as a single Mom. She had help with 2 Me-mas and 2 Papas. Yet, there was a void. His father left and chose not to be a part of his life his whole life. This was very hard on Shane but he chose to rise above it. When Shane became a father 7 years ago he asked his Mother" How could someone not want to be with their child? Shane found it hard for to leave without his son on visitation days." His Mom said "That is what your Dad said after his first visit. " It was just too hard to leave so his dad just didn't come back." As James's sister he told me the exact thing the year he died at the age Shane is right now.
The night of the accident we as family were up at the hospital. Shane was only given a .03% chance to make it. However, day after day, Shane defies those odds.
As we were sitting in the waiting room as a family, friends came and stayed. We as a family had arrived beginning about 4 pm. At 8:00 pm the number rose from 8 to 15. At 2 am in the morning there were over 20 people waiting at the hospital. It was such a blessing to hear why they loved Shane so much.
One friend said that his Mom had been in the hospital for a long time and Shane came by everyday or called to see if we needed anything. One friend said "I had a wreck and it was bad. Shane checked on me everyday and stayed with me till I was better." Another girl who is a friend said "I have gone through some bad times for a long time and Shane would call me often to check on me or stop in to be sure I was OK." These stories kept coming.
Then a customer came in with some other customers of Shane's. I was moved as I talked to him. His son was in a motorcycle wreck in August of 2006. His wreck was so bad that he has to have total care today with his family caring for him.
Shane would come by and visit with his son several times a month. His patience and kindness meant a lot to this family because when you go through something this serious ...friends and family fade, not to come by after time...Not Shane, he would still come by even if he had had a hard day at work. If he couldn't he would call. Many times he would bring his friend something because he wasn't able to get out to get it or do it.
I am moved as people come to check on him at the hospital. I see daily on Facebook kind comments of the heart that Shane has.
It is such a blessing to see how Shane has been there for so many people over the years.
