Save Baby Shane - Life Saving Transplant
Donation protected
Shane was born on November 27 2018. When he was born everything looked good and he was a healthy newborn. He got the newborn prescreening done and the results came back a week later with devastating news, Shane was born with no t and b cells (no immune system). This life threatening diagnosis is also know as Severe Combined Immune Deficiency. SCID is a group of very rare, life-threatening diseases that are present at birth. The disease causes the child to have very little or no immune system. As a result, the child's body is unable to fight off infections. This disease process is also known as the "boy in the bubble" syndrome, because living in the normal environment can prove fatal to these children. The only cure for the immune deficiency is a bone marrow transplant. Until the bone marrow transplant Shane is going into Boston children’s hospital for IVIG treatments. We just found out that before Shane can receive the transplant he will need chemotherapy which will bring all of his levels down to zero and he will have to stay in the hospital until the transplant. The bone marrow transplant procedure can have our little boy in the hospital from one month to ten months. While Shane is in the hospital we will need to take turns going back and forth to children’s hospital in Boston so that one can stay with our daughter McKenzie. For now we are only living off one paycheck until Shane goes into the hospital for the transplant and we have another daughter at home. Shane will be in the hospital for months until the new immune system takes over his body. During that period we both will be out of work with no income. We are on here now asking for some extra financial support so that our family can get over this terrible nightmare. We don’t know how much the insurance is going to cover and we have all the other living finances we need to pay during all of this, any contribution will help and please keep Shane in your prayers.
