Shanks Family Memorial & Recovery Fund
Donation protected
As you may know, the Shanks family has experienced an unimaginable and unexpected loss. Their beloved seven year old son, Max, was killed by a drunk driver while the family traveled home from a weekend visit with family.
On Sunday, July 10th they were traveling back to Charlotte from Columbia on I-77 when a drunk driver struck their vehicle. In addition to the sudden and tragic loss of Max, Corey remains intubated in ICU with multiple injuries, including a severe Traumatic Brain Injury. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him but he continues to fight every day for his family and the son they lost.
There are no words to describe the profound grief that their family is experiencing right now. In an instant, Max was taken tragically from them and nothing will ever fill the void in their heart. He was a sweet and mischievous little boy who loved to be outdoors and experience all that God had created in nature. He was loved by so many and will be forever missed.
A parent can never plan for the loss of a child - the immeasurable grief nor the painful goodbye that comes along with it. I am asking for donations to help this young loving family with funeral expenses for Max, the significant medical bills for Corey’s recovery, and to help manage other expenses that will come to them over the next months as they try to put the pieces of their broken world back to together. Your donations will not only provide financial assistance but will help give them the gifts of time and support as they process the loss of Max, grieve for all that might have been, and begin the healing process. The Shanks family need your love, support, and to be lifted up in prayer during this time of mourning and recovery.
We take comfort in knowing that Max now rests in the hands of God. He will protect him, love him, guide him, and watch over the rest of the Shanks family as they navigate this painful journey. Please lift the family up in prayer during this time of need.
Thank you for your prayers, support and donations.
