Funeral Expenses for Shannel Ortiz

Shannel Ortiz was a beautiful daughter, mother, sister and friend who suddenly and tragically passed away on October 15, 2020.

She had a beautiful soul and infectious laugh that made so many people appreciate and gravitate towards her.  Shannel had a free and willful spirit that propelled her through life with a zeal that few can match. Her beautiful eyes and panoramic smile met so many with a kind word, a helpful hand, or a meaningful friendship. Above all, though, Shannel lived for her family - especially her two sons. She adored her boys and always strived to give them the best of herself. She made holidays and traditions important, and always endeavored to show them everything life had to offer.

She was just 28 years old and so much living left to do. 

We are raising these funds to provide for her funeral, as unfortunately, this is not provided for by any other means. Shannel wished to be cremated and have her ashes returned to the earth in the form of a tree that can grow for years to come; while giving her children a place where they can visit her spirit. One of her favorite sentiments comes from Shel Silverstein’s book, The Giving Tree, in which he wrote, “And she loved a little boy very, very much - even more than she loved herself”.

As mentioned, Shannel is survived by her two sweet little boys, Cameron, 8 and Conor, 3, who were her absolute joy and the full meaning of her existence. These boys are reeling from her absence and in the face of so many uncertainties for them, we are also hoping to use these funds to help care for and provide for them during and after, this difficult time.
She also leaves her parents, four brothers, and large extended family of uncles, aunts and cousins; for whom her loss is immeasurable. She will be loved and missed for all eternity.
