Dear family and friends,
First, I want to thank you all for the many prayers. They are definitely being answered. Shannon has made such amazing progress. He is talking and walking and on good days making wise cracks at everyone. He still has a long road ahead. He still can't swallow anything by mouth so he has a PEG tube for now. Hopefully today we will hear that he is being transported to Touro in New Orleans for his Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI) rehab.
As happy as we all are that he is getting to attend Touro, we are well aware of the expenses of this second transfer.
Shannon's wife, Brandi and her ever present mom Brenda will be going to New Orleans for the duration. This will not be cheap. They have found a couple of places to stay and will be there at least a month, possibly longer. And on top of it, it's Mardi Gras season..which makes finding lodging more difficult. They will also have to buy groceries, gas and anything else that comes up without any extra income. Plus the loss of income due to Shannon's illness including Brandi's inability to work for the foreseeable future being that she will be his caretaker 24/7 .
So many of y'all have asked us "What can I do to help?" or "Do y'all need anything?" We now have your answer. <Money PLEASE> If you feel compelled to donate it will absolutely go to helping them be there for my brother! I can not begin to express how much it means to my family to see how much Brandi loves and gently cares for Shannon. Brandi's parents' have been extremely loving, kind, and merciful with our family through all of this & I want to help them in supporting their daughter through the most difficult & triumphant time of her life...because my brother will succeed!
My family and I appreciate everything that has already been done to help us through this time. The moral & Spiritual support as well as the financial help already given to them by selfless members of my family & close friends has been a blessing..unfortunately the substantial need for financial assistance is only growing.
