Shannon Janssen Memorial Bench
Donation protected
Thanks to some of the most amazingly generous and loving friends and family of Shannon Janssen, we have raised the funds needed to secure one of the remaining memorial benches for our dearest Shannon right in the heart of campus in the interior part of Wilmot Botanical Gardens. All donations in excess of the $2,500 will be equally split and donated to Alachua County Humane Society and Retirement Home for Horses.
We will deactivate the Go Fund Me following the service on Saturday April 6th.
Shannon Janssen was a cherished friend, daughter, and sister. Her sudden passing affected so many of us in a way that has left an unresolvable void in our lives. Her friends and family believe it would be fitting to have her formally remembered on the campus of University of Florida in the city Gainesville, a place she loved so much. This memorialization will serve as a place that can be visited to reflect upon the wonderful memories we have of her with the peace that she deserves.
We have raised the funds for a bench memorializing Shannon right in the heart of campus, believing she would find this gesture touching. Below is a sample picture of a bench and a description of its location.

Wilmot Gardens is a historic landmark in the heart of UF campus off Mowry Road that serves as a verdant respite for patients and their caregivers at UF Health and a vibrant center for research and education in therapeutic horticulture. Wilmot Gardens is a 4.8-acre property made up of multiple gardens with several notable features, the most predominant being its collection of camellias and azaleas.
Any money raised exceeding the donation requirement will be split and sent directly to the Alachua County Humane Society and Retirement Home for Horses, in memory of Shannon’s unconditional love for animals.
