Shannon Leach's Pre-Heart Transplant Needs

Donation protected

We met Shannon and Betsy two years ago when they became our neighbors. In that short amount of time, they have become more than just neighbors but dear friends to us.

Shannon was very open to us to talk about his medical condition and that he has been waiting for a heart transplant for 10 years now. Over the past two months, we have watched this young father of three go in and out of the hospital due to his heart complications. It now appears that the time has come that he needs the transplant now.

Betsy works outside the home and Shannon was the stay-at-home dad. An awesome one at that. I have never met a more energetic, on-the-go family like them. They definitely make every moment count. Fast forward to right now. The Doctors feel that it's best for Shannon to stay in the hospital permanently until the transplant occurs (and they don’t know when that will be) and then obviously will be away from home even longer while he goes through the adjustment period with his new heart.

I say all of this for you to know that this young family has so much ahead of them. So many more memories to make. So many more Friday night fire pits with their neighbors and all of our kids riding bicycles in the street and playing tag with all the kids in the neighborhood. Financially, THEY NEED OUR HELP. Betsy is running a single parent home right now with children ages 5, 3 and almost 1. And not that that superwoman can't handle it (again, I watch her in amazement with the stuff she does) but I know she is trying. Kade and Laney are going to daycare so that Betsy can continue working to help pay the bills but guess what? Daycare costs too. There are groceries, Keegan's baseball games, school photos, etc. It's the little things in our lives that we take for granted every day that Shannon and Betsy could use a little help with.

I wanted to do this page to help them. Take a little bit of the burden off of Betsy as they try and stay focused on getting Shannon healthy and back home where he belongs.  Any little donation helps and it will go directly to Betsy to offset the expenses that they have incurred the past two months of being in the hospital and over the next few months as they transition. Thank you for taking the time to read this and helping an incredible family out.
