Help Shannon Jimerson's Girls
Donation protected
This fund is to care for the precious young girls left behind by Shannon Jimerson, after her valiant 8 year battle with cancer. The girls also lost their father Jim in a car accident. Thank you for reading!
Shannon Jimerson could light up a room. And she did. As a children's pastor, mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, she lit up lives and the community.
Shannon fell in love with Jim Jimerson when she was 21 and at 22, married him, creating a new family with his little girl. They had two more beautiful girls, she got her pastoral ordination and lived full throttle into loving her kids, whether in her own family, her church, or her community.
At 30, her brother noticed a spot and asked her to get it checked out. This spot turned out to be melanoma. So then Shannon began her fight, full force, with cancer.
Her initial treatments went well and she was cancer-free for three years. But when it came back, she was quickly diagnosed to be Stage 4. Thanks to the team at UCSF, Kaiser, clinical trials, miracle meds, and miracle prayers, Shannon not only surpassed the original prognosis, but continued to thrive and serve kids for five more years, and getting precious time with her own growing children. Her amazing story was shared in the San Francisco Chronicle and her local paper, The Daily Republic .
In October 2013, the unthinkable happened. Jim was killed in a car crash on his way home from work, leaving the girls without their father while their mother fought for her life. The week after Jim died, a new tumor was found on Shannon's brain, requiring the first of many brain surgeries to come. Shannon, with the loving care of her mom, took these on like a champ. During this time, Shannon's dad was also diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. In February of 2015, he passed away as well.
We began this page to raise money for Shannon Jimerson and her family as she fought cancer, but on August 18, 2015 Shannon passed away unexpectedly, peacefully at home. So now this fund will go toward memorial expenses and to provide for the precious young girls she and Jim left behind, who are still in school. Their grandmother will be caring for them.
In her short, beautiful life, Shannon cared for so many children in our community. Now this is our chance to care for hers.
Thank you again to all for your prayers, encouragement and love for this family!
