Stem Cell Treatment for MS
Donation protected
My name is Shannon Johannsen and I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1992. Since then, my body has undergone many life altering changes, both physically and mentally.
For those who do not know what MS is, Multiple Sclerosis is a demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). Basically, my autoantibodies attack my own tissues and create scars. These scars, interfere with my electrical responses from my brain and spinal cord. Because of this, I have been wheelchair bound since late 2007. Not only does this disease change the way you live life physically, it also takes a toll on your emotional well being. Unfortunately to this day, there is no cure.
I have recently discovered a stem cell study taking place that I can participate in. It is NOT embrylogical stem cells, the stem cells are my own body's cells. As you can probably imagine, the procedure(s) are not cheap and therefore I believe this may be a way to raise some funding toward this type of treatment.
I hope if I am able to undergo this, I can be an example and a success story and example for others dealing with this horrible disease.
I want to be apart of the solution!
