International Lifeguard Competition
Donation protected
Hello ,
Let me tell you why I'm raising this money which is to raise my skills to another level, as well as to compete internationally. I have been a Ocean lifeguard since 2016 on both the East and West coast of the United States, prior to that I was a Junior lifeguard since the age of nine, who had the good fortune to be selected to participate as a member of the USA Youth National Team in France 2014. I have also travelled to Japan and Australia for the same purpose in the following two years. Competition's involve everything from sprinting out of the water in the sand to paddling in overhead surf pounding your body ; to simulated surf rescue races involoving more then one person to ; surfsking a ski threw heavy surf . Pool events also take play at the World Championship every two years, apart from swimming also rescuing an unconsicous person (simulated as a mannequin ) you have to pull to safety.
As a result of my participation in Nationals which took place this year in Daytona Beach , Florida . This event which brings together lifeguards from all over the United States every summer in a differnt location every year to demonstrate their skills as Ocean Lifeguards . I became ranked as seventh in the Nation for Open Women 2017.
This has resulted in my being selected again to represent the USA Open Team in an upcoming International Surf Rescue Challeneg in New Zealand in three months time. I have also been invited to Australia to train with some of the top coaches in my sport at Kurrawa Surf Club on the Gold Coast , who have produced world champions in lifeguarding and surflifesaving competions .
The funds will be used for my air travel from Florida to New Zealand/Australia and return; ground transportation to and from the various venues; lodging; and finally food (since athletes eat alot).
With hurricane Harvey hitting hard in Houston ,Texas our USLA USA President is there making a differnce and using lifeguard / first responder skills to helping those in need. Since being a lifeguard is helping the public when in need. With all the donations going to Texas , Any donation to my cause , for me to be able to strive better for my skills in this sport for the next upcoming USA National team selections , would mean the world to me & my family.
