That's a disparate group of projects!
2023 and early 2024 have been hard for us. We are a very small nonprofit. In 2023, our board president was one of seven defendants in a defamation legal action surrounding Protect Trans Kids (PLC is not a defendant), a tactic we believe was designed to silence that project. And it worked. Our administrative funds were modest, plans to replenish have not been successful. Our planned fundraisers had to be postponed to deal with this threat. So we are asking you to help fill the gap for the remainder of 2024.
We've worked hard on significant projects these past years. A defamation lawsuit was unexpected and traumatizing. No PLC funds were used in that matter, but it drew our attention and energy.
We continue to distribute #ProtectTransKids signs. We also manage the Fort Faulsey Community Cat Colony on the Northside . Looking ahead to 2025, a very big plan is to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the AMPLIFY project . We'll publish updates from the 313 existing contributors and reach out to new voices. We'll also prepare the archives to be preserved by consulting with a queer archivist. For this we hope to secure grant funding as we did for the original effort.
To get from here to there, we need to pay the phone bill, the insurance bill, the website expenses. Basic expenses to keep the lights on. We’very done very well fundraising for the projects - but we need help.
It has been a brutal year. We've tried to show up.
