Hi I’m Mike kelley and Nick dennis is my best friend. His son, Brody Dennis (10 years old) went to the ER early this week and his condition was so severe he had to be taken to Peyton Manning that same night where he still is and will remain until the doctors can get things under control.
He is a very sick little guy, dealing with critically low sodium levels, colitis, fluid in his abdomen and his lungs. Doctors think this all stemmed from a previous injury where he was over prescribed antibiotics which killed all the good bacteria in him as well as the bad. This meant he was much more susceptible to infection while doing 10 year old boy stuff like playing in creeks and lakes, drinking from hoses, and all that other stuff young boys get into.
Brody is an amazing young man, just like his parents he is polite, respectful, always smiling, and can take a joke. There is a Ton of kids always running around our neighborhood but Brody is one I’m always glad to see. He loves anything with a motor so we always have something to talk about and just like his dad he’s happy to spin a wrench if I ask him to.
Nick is a great provider, him and Vicki both have good jobs and insurance thankfully. However, spending every day away from home and out of town, as well as missing work and other obligations gets real expensive real quick. Not to mention the medical bills they will accrue due to this. Vicki pretty much stays at the hospital with Brody and Nick works a midnight shift at GM in Fort Wayne. He works all night, drives home, gets a little sleep, wakes up, drives to Indy, spends time with Brody, drives home to get ready for work, drives to Fort Wayne, ect… I can’t even imagine what this family is spending on gas alone. For this reason Mandy and I are starting a go fund me for them. Through my own struggles and other peoples generosity, I’ve learned that a little bit of charity goes a long way. Having some extra money through troubled times is just one less thing to worry about, and when you have a hospitalized kid, one less worry is a true blessing. Also seeing so many people show they care enough to even spare a couple bucks is a great shot of humanity and a comfort. If you managed to read all this I appreciate your time. Wether you know this family or not please know they are family to me and I’d love to help them all I can. Even if you only have five bucks to spare let’s pool together and try to do some good for some good people.
