Solidarity and support for unhoused/working class
Donation protected
*** COVID-19 UPDATE ***
In response to the need for social distancing, and to do our part in protecting our community from the spread of COVID-19, the Solidarity Share Fair: A Really Free Market will be going mobile and distributing care packages to community members expressing need. Our care packages will include a small meal, snacks, travel-size toiletries/self-care products, basic first aid supplies, and socks!
***
Your donation will allow us to buy vitally needed warm clothes and supplies for people hit hardest by capitalism's inequalities in Eugene. We get everything used, discounted, and/or in bulk so a little goes a long way!
The Share Fair aims to go beyond the experience of handing someone a sandwich when they are hungry, we create a space where people are welcomed to join in community. We provide music, haircuts, massage, bike repair, resume support, first aid, warm meals and empathy to folks who are often pushed away. Additionally, we offer the opportunity to speak with representatives from health care, counseling, and housing services. Through building connections and empowering guests to get involved and volunteer, we are changing the dynamic of our neighborhoods. We strive to be an example, making an effort to give to others in kind and respectful ways. We rescue food, clothing, shoes, toiletries, backpacks, sleeping bags/camping gear, and much more from various locations to then redistribute to people in need. With more and more of our neighbors being effected by the housing crisis and food insecurity, we need events such as the Share Fair now, more than ever.
Now that it’s rainy and cold we want to build capacity to help with the life needs of some of the most vulnerable people in the community. Tarps, tents, sleeping bags, back packs, socks, coats, blankets, and so many more items are needed!
We’re also always looking for physical donations, volunteers, and more services! If you or a group/business/organization/charity would like to help in that way please contact us.
The Share Fair is a free market run entirely by volunteer efforts, organized by Burrito Brigade and the Neighborhood Anarchist Collective. We have been providing a free market for the unhoused and vulnerable members of our community the last Tuesday of each month for 21 months.
