Hi my name is Aubrey Sipowicz. I created this page to help me raise funds for cremation services and a memorial gathering for my Mother, Sharie Sipowicz. She passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Before she passed, we discussed her final wishes and she was pleased to tell me that she had maintained a small life insurance policy with “Royal Neighbors of America Insurance Company” assist me with her final expenses and memorial service after her death. I didn’t think much of it because no one wants to think about someone they love not being here anymore. The day after she died, I called “Royal Neighbors of America“ to discuss her policy. Their immediate response was that she only paid into it for 1 year and 10 months instead of the 2 year statutory period. This gives them the right the right to investigate and review her application and all of her medical records before any money can be paid out on the policy. I was then rudely told the soonest I would see any premiums returned or a pay out on the policy would be 1 year. Even though she died from natural causes, the objective is to find some thing in her application or records that shows she was not honest when filling out the deny the claim and they want to take up to one year to do that. In the meantime, my mom sits in the Morgue at Providence Hospital.

I have since done more research on “Royal Neighbors of America” and the company is a huge scam. There are several people that have complained to the Better Business Bureau and are in the same position as myself. Some of them for up to 7 years and they have never received a pay out on the policy and they didn’t receive any of the proceeds back. I’ve been left with no funds to cremate my Mom or to have a memorial service. I am absolutely astonished at the cost of cremating a person, the cost involved in requesting death certificates and the charge for each one, the amount of money that it cost to post a simple obituary just for two days in the Oregonian, ($246, no, I absolutely did not pay that) and the lack of professionalism that most of the people involved in this industry possess. I am simply at a loss, and I just don’t know what to do. Creating this post was very difficult for me and it’s because I’ve run out of options at this point. Any funds collected on this post will be used directly to assist me with the cost of pre-meeting my mother and put the cost of having brief memorial service for her in order for her friends and family to gather and remember her in in a celebration of life.
