I never imagined having to write something like this. And I never thought I would do something like this. I have created this post to help do anything possible to make this difficult time a little easier for my mum and sisters.
I am reaching out with a heavy heart to share that my mum has been bravely battling breast cancer for the past year. Undergoing intensive chemotherapy and surgery.
Despite her incredible strength and courage, she has recently been diagnosed with leptomeningeal disease, a rare disease which only occurs in 5% of cancer patients. We have been given the heart-wrenching news that she has only 3 months left, if we’re lucky. Her cancer has spread to her brain and is very aggressive. She is now terminally ill and is facing leaving her young family too soon. She also has 2 young grandchildren who are only 10 and 11.
This has come as a huge shock to us as we were advised not long ago that her breast surgery was a success and the next steps were preventative radiotherapy, but little did we know this cancer would return rapidly and spread so quickly.
As her 31-year-old daughter it is incredibly difficult to accept that this may be the final chapter for my mum. At home with her are my 20 year old sister, Caley, and my 7 year-old sister, Maya. They both rely on her deeply, and my primary concern is to ensure that they are supported both financially and emotionally during this time.
We are raising funds to alleviate the financial pressures that come with this devastating situation and to provide for Caley and Maya’s near future. Caley will not be returning to work for some time as she will become Maya’s guardian. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in easing this burden and helping us navigate the challenges ahead.
The help from this page will allow my mum to stress a little less about finance’s, and to enjoy much needed quality time together as a family, as we have no idea how much time we have left together. I am starting this page now as I want my mum to have no financial worries for the time she has left, it’s very sad having to think about money during this difficult time; but unfortunately thats the harsh reality of life. And we as a family unexpectedly have the huge cost of a funeral to think about.
No amount of money will change my mums situation but it would ease some of the financial worries.
I am deeply grateful for your support and compassion. Please share this page far and wide, as your kindness can make a meaningful impact during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you from the bottom of our heart.
Sincerely,
Natasha, Caley, Maya & Sharon
