Sharon Spencer Memorial Fund

“This is my biological mother, Sharon Spencer. I met her for the first time 6 years ago. I was so excited to meet her and found out I had four more siblings. She even had a nickname for me and my baby pictures were all over the wall. Despite the fact, I hadn’t seen her for 20 years, she never forgot about me. She told me then that she had a bad liver and wouldn’t live very long. Unfortunately, she was right. After only a few years of enjoying a connection again, she passed away late Saturday before I could make it back to say goodbye. My siblings and I are heartbroken. She was a rock and our connection to each other. I had hoped she would make it to my college graduation in august - something no one in my family has ever done. We had hoped she would make it to my sibling's high school graduation in June. We still want to experience so much with her. With my mother gone, we have each had to find new living situations. Some traveling across the country, some with friends, as we no longer have the home we used to have.

"When she died, she had a stuffed elephant next to her. It was a gift from us kids on valentines day because she loved elephants. Elephants are a sign of wisdom, protection, strength, good luck, and family bonds. This is exactly what she passed on to her five children before she passed away at the young age of 50. We weren’t ready to let her go. As we look at the elephants around her room that surrounded her as she passed, we are reminded of her strength. Of her love and family bond. We know she is protecting us from Heaven. We aren’t prepared to accept the emotional burden. We aren’t prepared to accept the financial burden.
