Sharon's fight against Scleroderma
Donation protected
A colleague of ours, Sharon Wozniak, who many of us have worked closely with over past few years is currently on extended personal leave due to a serious illness, and is currently waiting for live saving transplant. Because of her illness she will be unable to return to work for at least another four months. I have spoken with Sharon on a number of occasions, and whilst she is positive and grateful to be eligible for the treatment, she will be very unwell during this time and being unable to work is causing some undue challenges. And it made me think – I can help….
I am personally going to donate some of my excess annual leave balance – the value of my leave days will be converted into money to assist Sharon with her treatment expense and lack of income. If you are like me and have found yourself with excess leave from restricted travel plans and COVID-19 derailing leave plans, I have personally decided that I will not notice a few days leave from my balance, and I know Sharon needs it more than I do. I am going to donate a few days leave.
If donating a day is not suitable, you may want to donate directly to Sharon instead via a dedicated ‘Go Fund Me’ page set up in her honour: (insert link).
This is a completely optional decision.
For me, I recently attended the formation day with Fr Richard Leonard (with many of you) and a comment made by Richard on the day has stuck with me “Better to do something for someone than nothing for no one” – so I am going to do something for someone (Sharon) and you might like to do the same.
Thank you
