Shaun Steppe Family

Shaun Steppe, 42, suffered from a ruptured brain aneurysm on March 23rd at home. Shaun’s wife, Mandy, immediately went into action and revived him. He was taken to University of Virginia hospital where he was treated by the best medical teams who fought to save him. After many days and nights of ups and downs, Shaun lost his battle for his earthly life on April 11, 2022.

Shaun and Mandy built and moved into their dream home December of 2020. They have an amazing blended family that consists of three boys and 2 girls ranging from 7 to 23 years of age. Let's not forget their 2 fur-babies Max and Thor. Shaun and Mandy were so blessed to have a beautiful wedding with close family and friends on October 24, 2021. Anyone who knows Shaun and Mandy will tell you they were both the happiest they have ever been.

Shaun never met a stranger. He was a coach and mentor to so many youth. He coached basketball at Tandem Friends School, Orange County High School, and many youth leagues. He was a multi-sport athlete at Western Albemarle High School during his high school years. Shaun’s family describes him as compassionate, having a major sense of humor, easy-going and laid back. His daughters Lexi and Aaliyah stated, "Dad would support me in any decision I ever made" and "I'll always love you until the days my eyes close." His sons Deuce, Shayn and Donovan said, “Dad always encouraged us to be better." "Dad, let's go to the buffet." “He was a great mentor”. Donovan also said he already misses Shaun's laugh so much! Shaun’s mother-in-law Tammy said “God broke the mold when He made Shaun” and his father-in-law, "You will be greatly missed, RIP my SON I love you." Shaun was also known as Dabey, Big Daddy and Papi to his close family members.

Shaun worked as a Technical Support Technician for Abbott Laboratories. He was well-loved, there and was known as “Big Shaun." Shaun was no little guy but was the most gentle, loving man with a heart of gold. He always put everyone else’s needs above his own.

Please help this beautiful family as they grieve and transition to a life without him. Thank you for your continued support during this time. Prayers are appreciated above all.

Blessings, The Steppe Family
