I'm creating this Go Fund me for my sister Shaunna Cusimano. We all need a little help sometimes......
A note from my sister:
It all started at the end of August, I woke up in the middle of the night having awful pain in my lower abdomen, so bad I considered calling an ambulance. I waited a while, debating on calling, and waiting for the pain to go away. But the pain kept coming. I went to the emergency room, and wasn’t given many answers.
I decided to make an appointment with a gynecologist. She decided to run some tests; ct scans, ultrasounds, blood work. Test after test before she said it wasn’t anything in her field……Back to square one.
Though she was unable to give me an answer, she was able to refer me to a gastroenterologist and a urologist. As normal with specialists it took some time for an available appointment. I seen the gastroenterologist. More tests….another ct scan, more blood work, put on antibiotics as a precaution, even a colonoscopy. And I was told that it was nothing in her field either….back to square one.
Next trip was the urologist office. I was given tests again but this time I had real answers. I was diagnosed with a complicated urinary tract infection, hypertonic pelvic floor dysfunction, and complications to my previously diagnosed interstitial cystitis. I was put on a new prescription and referred to physical therapy. Physical therapy didn’t help and I went through many different medications with no improvement.
Things continued to get worse even with answers, I have developed horrible retention so I had to rely on self catheterization in order to void my bladder. Then progressed to having a Foley catheter in all the time. I then developed an awful infection that would not respond to the first round of antibiotics. I started having bleeding that became serious and life threatening. I had a Cystoscopy, and they found several bladder stones, one that was pretty large. She would have to perform surgery to get these removed and to cauterize the spot that was causing the bleeding. I was told I had to have surgery quickly. I had the surgery done on 2/26/20, and I am still recovering. I still have the Foley catheter in and am unable to go to work as I normally would due to the risk of infection. I have to have two more bladder surgeries, on on 3/11/20 and another on 3/25/2020. I do have insurance but the medical bills continue to pile up since I am unable to attend work normally.
