I'm shaving my curls to help Kristen fight cancer!

Let’s help kick Cancer together. I’ve changed the target to see if we can get the last $3000 by Saturday! 

Hi Everyone,

My best friend Kristen noticed something "off" with her boob in early November. She went straight to the GP and was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer soon after. She made the bold decision to undergo a double mastectomy in late November to ensure the cancer did not come back. However, during the surgery it was discovered that the cancer had unfortunately spread to her lymph nodes and she needed to undergo treatment (chemo), starting in January.

Kristen is only 42. She is the mum of 4 amazing kids (the youngest is only 5). She is pseudo-mum to many more. She is an amazing nurse and has the most infectious laugh you've ever heard. She is the type of person who would do anything for anyone, no matter what. Kristen lives in Port Lincoln which means that she has to travel to Whyalla for treatment (a 6 hour round trip - which she will need someone to take her to/from) and to Adelaide for scans. All of this costs money. And to top it off, chemo is going to knock her for six which will make it very hard for her to continue working as a nurse and carer throughout this time.

Kristen has the most amazing dreadlocks. They are her pride and joy. And they have already started to fall out :-(

⚠️This is where I come in and need your help ⚠️

To help support Kristen, I am going to be shaving off my beloved curls in order to help raise money for both Kristen and her family so that she can get through this tough time and can kick cancers butt! To take the financial stress off of travelling too and from treatment, providing for her family, and feeling pressured to work when she is not well enough to. She has not asked for this. In fact, she'd be mortified to see it. But we all know someone affected by cancer so let's show her she's not alone.

You might not know Kristen, which is why I am not asking for exuberant donations. But you all know me and how much I love my hair and how all my kids at work know me as "Sarah with the blue/green hair"! We all know curls get the girls so now I'm totally screwed. But also, cancer sucks way more and no one should go through this alone.

The big shave will happen on:

I am asking that, if you feel inclined, you donate your weekly coffee money to show your support (so $5 for those regular coffee drinkers and $8 for the double-shot oat milk latte). If you can donate, any amount will really help and I (and Kristen) would be so greatful.
