Shaving the Beard for Kids and Vision Impaired

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Bruno. I am going to shave my beard that I have had for 7 years and hope to raise $10,000 by 31st October 2024 for two organisations that support the vision impaired.

When I was 16 years old, I was diagnosed with an eye condition called Keratoconus, a condition in which the clear tissue on the front of the eye (cornea) thins and bulges outward into a cone shape. This causes blurred vision and sensitivity to light and glare. Vision can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses, and in advanced cases may require a cornea transplant. I had a cornea transplant when I was 19 years old. After 33 years, the transplant failed and I had another transplant.
I have been fortunate to have received amazing care from eye surgeons and ophthalmologists, and to show my appreciation I will donate all funds raised to two organisations;

  • South Australian School & Services for Vision Impaired (SASSVI)
The only specialist school for students with a vision impairment currently operating in Australia. SASSVI prides itself on providing educational expertise to students and children living with significant vision impairment.

  • Eye Bank of South Australia
This small but dedicated team is on call 24/7 to retrieve each and every cornea from donors across the state.
They meticulously prepare valuable corneas and then provide them to surgeons for corneal transplants.

Your donation will be greatly appreciated - thank you :)
