Shawn Cain's Road to Recovery Fundraiser

With his family's permission, I am asking for help for a family that has given so much to so many. I've known Shawn Cain since kindergarten at Flint River Academy in Woodbury, GA and he's always been the big brother who has looked after me and many others. Now he needs our help. Shawn has spent his life serving his community and protecting our freedoms through his service in the U.S. Navy, the Department of Corrections and the Georgia State Patrol. He's 6'6" of pure strength and health, but unbelievably and as with so many, he was hospitalized with COVID on July 23rd and spent the next two terrifying months in ICU at Spalding Regional, including over 30 days on a ventilator. He was moved to an acute care recovery hospital in Macon, GA two weeks ago where he will stay until he is strong enough to move to a facility to receive intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy. His road to recovery will be extensive and because he doesn't qualify for long-term disability through his current employer, the only income they receive through his short-term disability is about to end. His wife, Serena, is not able to work outside the home because she is the sole caretaker of their amazing daughter McKenzie, who has cerebral palsy and is 100% dependent on Serena.

Folks, this family never asks for help; instead the Cains are always first in line to give help. Now they need us - and the need is dire and immediate. All of the money raised in this campaign will go directly to Serena and be used to cover Shawn's insurance premiums, deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses and house payments for the next year.
