Shawn Harvey's Leukemia Fundraiser
My brother Shawn was recently diagnosed with CLL, Chronic Lymphocitic Leukemia stage 4. He is starting chemotherapy and and hasn't worked since the last week of November. We are struggling with the insurance company to get approvals which has delayed the proper treatment he needs. They finally approved treatment after 4 weeks. However, he will have out of pocket expenses not covered by the insurance company (bills, living expenses, co-pays, deductible, etc.). Since he was diagnosed shortly after started a new job, he is most likely not be eligable for short term disability and is currently being disputed with the company.
Shawn has had many struggles in life, like most of us. He has recently finished his first two years of college, found a new career, been traveling, found the joy of exercising, and most importantly found love. All of these things have just started for him at age 46. When things have finally fallen into place, he gets news of his current state of health that nobody wants to hear, the diagnosis of cancer. Some of you may not know my brother as I do, but I can tell you he is one of a kind. He has a magnetic personality that is filled with humor, laughter, and joy. He has a heart of gold and is the type of person that would do anything for anyone. He can keep a stranger engaged in conversation with his humor, intellect and his love of life. I'm barely scratching the surface of the type of person that he is.
With that said, I have started this fundraiser with the intent to take away worry of his future expenses that are to come. The cost of health care and living expenses have greatly increased. If you can kindly donate any amount our family would very much appreciate it. Expenses are the last thing we need him to worry about. Our family and myself need him to focus on recovery. Thank you all so very much and god bless you.
Sincerely,
Chris Harvey
