Shawn Needs Our Help: Urgent Care
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Tina and I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart, asking for help for my brother Shawn—a man who has worked incredibly hard to turn his life around and build a future he could be proud of.
Shawn was released from prison in June 2021 and never looked back. From that day on, he held a full-time job—often two or three—doing everything he could to build stability. He got his own apartment, stocked his cupboards.. For the first time, he was truly standing on his own two feet.
But life took a devastating turn.
In 2021, Shawn was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney failure. It progressed quickly. By 2025, it reached stage 4. Just 30 days later, doctors told him he had end-stage renal failure. On top of this, he was also diagnosed with stage 3 heart failure (with preserved ejection fraction) and neuropathy in his left ventricle.
Since then, Shawn has undergone three major surgeries, with a fourth scheduled in just 30 days. He began dialysis in March, which is exhausting and time-consuming. He now has a catheter, making daily life—and work—extremely difficult and risky. If sweat even gets into it, it could send an infection straight to his heart.
Despite trying, Shawn can no longer work. The medications, procedures, and physical toll have made it impossible. He’s at risk of losing his apartment—his first true home—and the motorcycle he worked so hard to earn.
But this isn’t just about bills and belongings.
Shawn has also spent the last few years rebuilding his relationships with his family—especially his nieces and nephews. He’s become an important part of their lives, getting to know the little ones born while he was away. They absolutely adore him, and the thought of losing him again—this time to illness—is something none of us are ready for.
We don’t know how many more procedures are ahead, but we do know a transplant is the next step. That means more downtime, more uncertainty, and more expenses.
If you can donate, please know that every dollar goes toward helping Shawn survive and stay afloat. If you can’t, sharing this and sending your prayers is just as powerful.
From our family to yours—thank you, truly.
