Shawn Suarez Medical Fundraiser

This medical fundraiser is for Shawn Suarez, a hardworking loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. An unidentified mass in his brain has left him and his family in need of financial assistance while he cannot work and undergoes ongoing treatments and multiple surgeries.

On January 12, 2023, Shawn Suarez went to the ER at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo with numbness and tingling on his right side. After testing for a possible stroke was ruled out, additional tests were done (including more blood work, a CAT Scan, an X-ray and an MRI), it was determined that he had a mass in the left frontal lobe of his brain. He was admitted immediately and Neurology surgeons were consulted. Shawn needed to remain in the hospital until a craniotomy could be performed and they could do a biopsy of the unknown mass. On his 5th day of hospitalization, they did another MRI and he had the craniotomy and biopsy done, taking multiple tissue samples for examination and testing. Shawn was then discharged a day later and is now at home recuperating. He has an appointment with his doctor at the end of January. Until then, he is not allowed to work or drive. Depending on the results of the biopsy, he will most likely need to be re-admitted to the hospital to have the mass surgically removed. Then after surgery, again spending multiple days in the hospital before he will be well enough for discharge and home nursing care, not to mention continued follow-up doctor visits.

As many of your already know, less than 2-years ago, his wife (my daughter), Casey had a craniotomy herself to remove a tumor and we're at a loss as to how a similar condition has now affected Shawn, as well; but we're doing our best to stay positive.

Shawn currently cannot work and doesn’t have any paid sick time, so he has NO income. The medical care will likely continue for the foreseeable future as he heals and continues his uncertain medical care. Shawn and his wife, Casey, and their son, desperately need help to pay their household bills right now and, without Shawn’s income, will fall behind very quickly. With a high deductible health insurance plan, there will be medical bills coming soon and for the foreseeable future. This fundraiser is asking for your help.
