Hello, this is Danah and Blaine Richard. We are fundraising for our nephew, Shawn Vincent.

On Monday, October 10th, 2022, Shawn was in a Motor Vehicle Accident in Northern Colorado. Shawn is an over-the-road truck driver and loves his job. His 18-Wheeler caught fire during the accident, and Shawn was trapped for some time. He sustained Full Thickness Burns over 70% of his body. Shawn was flown to the University of Colorado Hospital Burn Unit in Aurora, CO, just outside Denver.

The team of unbelievable professionals has tirelessly attended to Shawn’s well-being. He had his first surgery on Thursday, the 13th, to remove all the damaged areas he had from the fire. The procedure took 5-hours, and Shawn held up like a champ. (We have a fighter on our hands)

The second surgery was performed the next day, Friday the 14th. The 6-hour surgery went well. Shawn is holding up well under anesthesia, allowing the excellent team of doctors to remove as many damaged areas while he is under. He’s still fighting!

Saturday morning, the 15th, was a good start. The family arrived at the hospital, and Shawn was very active, with one eye-opening for the first time in a week. The nurses were even excited. He will have another surgery on Saturday to continue to process.

As you can imagine, after the first few surgeries, there will be multiple procedures for skin graphing, physical therapy, etc.

The Doctors have advised that the road to recovery will be at least six months in the Burn Unit before he can be transported back home to Louisiana.

The monies raised by the platform will be used to help pay for Shawn’s medical expenses, travel, etc. We greatly appreciate anything you can do.
