Shawna's fight for her life

Shawna is an LPN and has been caring for the elders in our community for a very long time. She is a giving friend that would gladly give you the shirt off her back and is always willing to go above and beyond for the people she cares about. She has been an asset to our community and now she needs our help. Shawna is in a fight for her life.

On March 24th, Shawna received news noone wants to hear. It was the dreaded C-word. Shawna was diagnosed with a rare form of colon cancer with no known survival rate past the 4yr mark. Shawna began to fight!! She had part of her colon removed, got a colostomy, and began chemo. Despite the chemo, a tumor grew on her ovary and she had a full hysterectomy in July and her stage 3 switched to a stage 4. She has had 4 aggressive rounds of chemotherapy and recently received good news that she has had 2 clean scans. That means she can receive a lower dose of chemo and can even do the chemo treatments at home. She will receive chemo treatments for the rest of her life. Her goal is to beat that 4 year mark and kick colon cancer butt!

As you can imagine, the medical bills are piling up and Shawna is no longer able to work. Shawna is a mother of 4 great kids that have watched their mom fight. This woman has given her all to this community caring for our parents and grandparents. Now let's give back to her and her family. The goal is to raise a little money to help take some of the burden and worry off. Between the medical bills, the regular bills, and the holidays coming up, it would be so great if we could help ease the stress even slightly for a great person fighting to watch her kids grow up.
