Shawn’s prosthetic hand

When I was 19 weeks pregnant I got an ultrasound thinking I would just be finding out the gender of my first child. Well that wasn’t the case at all. During my ultrasound that should have only taken 30 mins turned into over and hour and a half. I knew something was wrong I could tell by the techs facial expressions that something was wrong. I was terrified. After she was finished with the scan she asked me to meet the doctor in the consultation room, so I did. The doctor then told me and my family that we were having a baby boy but he had some bad news... he processed to tell us that my son was missing his left hand, had a hole in his heart and a cyst on his brain. They didn’t think he would make it after birth and if he did it would be a miracle and that most likely he would Downs. The doctors tried to talk me into an abortion and I refused! No matter what they said to me I couldn’t give up my baby! Well more testing and ultrasounds happened throughout my pregnancy and became a regular thing for me. Well December 9, 2010 my handsome healthy baby boy was born! He was born missing his left hand but he did not have downs and he made it after birth and with that being said my son will be 9 years old this year! I’m doing this go fund me because he has been asking for a hand. He wants to be able to tie his shoes, wear jeans, jump rope, and not feel left out from his other friends. The past couple years have truly been a struggle with him being bullied and coming home so angry and upset! Asking why did God make me different? Why couldn’t I be like other kids? As I tell him all the time your perfect the way you are and god makes everyone different in their own ways. I took him to Lawall At Hershey medical center for a prosthetic hand in hopes the insurance would help us. Well sadly to say they denied him. It’s been a battle and it seems to be a losing one so I’m hoping to raise as much as I can here and also with some other fund raisers to give him the hand he has been praying and asking for!
