EMERGENCY Surgery for Shayla Abbott

On Sunday, June 10th, Shayla Nicole Abbott (daughter of Larry & Idalia Abbott) was admitted to the hospital due to pain & swelling in her leg. After running some tests, doctors found that in addition to having a blood clot in her left lung, she has an even more concerning blood clot running from her right leg leading up to a main artery which could be fatal if it reaches her heart. Due to the width of the clot, doctors at McAllen Medical Center were unsuccessful in performing the procedure she needed to start recovery.

She now needs to be transported to UT Health Science Center in San Antonio or UT Galveston which have the resources and equipment to carry out the IVC filter placement and clot removal. However, she cannot be transported because she has no medical insurance and no money for a down payment for the procedure. Shayla and her loved ones need help in raising money so that her family can make this down payment, allowing her to get the procedure and prevent her condition from worsening. Any donations, regardless of the amount, can ultimately help save Shayla’s life.
