We met our goal and she hd her surgery in April. She is doing AMAZING! We are now in need of your help to raise money for a down payment on a van visit her new account at https://www.gofundme.com/van4shayla
Shayla is a beautiful 6-years-old, and dreams of walking and playing with her peers. As Shayla’s parents it is our duty and pleasure to provide Shayla with the best, most fulfilling life possible. Unfortunately Shayla has been dealt a pretty rough hand. Shayla was born at 31 weeks gestation and suffered from a lack of oxygen causing her to have a stroke. The result of this has left Shayla with Spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy and Cortical visual impairment. She has extremely high spasticity, more so on her right side of her body. She has trouble processing what she sees, is unable to walk or sit by herself and struggles to use her arms. Shayla receives OT, & PT and is in need of vision therapy. Shayla has also inherited a gene deformity called amelogenesis imperfecta, this is a disorder of tooth development and causes Shayla’s teeth to be unusually small, discolored, and prone to rapid wear and breakage. In combination with her grinding her teeth due to CP Shayla has already had to undergo one oral surgery and she will have many more in her future. A specialized therapy called MNRI will help regulate Shayla’s motor reflex and make it easier for her to control her limbs and process what she sees. We are also hoping to be able to get her SPML surgery that will lengthen her hamstrings and heel cords but dose not have a long recovery period. Unfortunately these are not covered by her insurance. We are raising money to get her these treatments, her SPML surgery is scheduled for April 2016. Thank you for taking the time to learn about Shayla. Any help is greatly appreciated. – Toni Chase, Mom
