Shayok Summer Showcase 2024

My name is Marial Shayok and I’m a professional basketball player born and raised in Ottawa, Canada. I've had the opportunity to play at the highest level, both collegiately and professionally. As I reflect on my journey, I realize how fortunate I was to be a recipient of scholarships and funded programs to develop as a basketball player.

Today, many basketball players in Ottawa are forced to travel out of the city and sometimes the country, every weekend in order to play in front of college and university coaches to market themselves, in hopes of achieving their dreams and receiving an offer to play at the next level. This results in many parents and coaches sacrificing financially to support these young athletes.

The Shayok Summer Showcase will provide players a stage to showcase their skills in hopes of obtaining a collegiate basketball scholarship. Each player will have the chance to compete against each other, in front of their friends and families, while being evaluated by local university and college coaches who will also be in attendance.

All the funds will be equally allocated back to the six participating AAU teams, which will assist with their team's travel expenses, accommodation and equipment. We hope these donations will help this initiative expand and ultimately push the game of basketball forward by supporting these young athletes in our community.
