Help Shaznee's Family in Sri Lanka
On April 11th, Shaznee was involved in a skydiving activity with his friends and he passed away. It was his 80th jump as per the source. He was the soul breadwinner of his family and he was good giver (sadaqa) too. We have organized this gofundme in order to help his family.
100% of the money will go directly to Fathimathul Adaviya, Shaznee's mother to spend it on everyday family expenses for the next 4+ years. I will be in direct communications with Shazla, Shaznee's sister, to make this happen inshAllah. Fathimathul and Shazla have allowed me, Maged Abdelsalam, to deposit the money into my bank account and send $1000 monthly into their bank account in Sri Lanka until the full amount is completely depleted.

إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
We ask that Allah raises his ranks in the day of judgement and that Allah gives his family overseas patience.
Because his family is overseas in Sri Lanka, we had to take the charge of doing the body washing and the burial. In doing this, we learned that he was not only the oldest of his siblings, but he was the main source of income for his family back home. Because of this, we ask that you donate to his family if you can. And if you cannot donate, at the very least share this fundraiser so we can help provide funds to his family.
Our Memories with Shaznee
Muzamil: On Friday, April 9th, as I was walking back to meet with my friends after attending Friday prayer, I heard someone call out my name. This person spoke my name in the same loving way as my own mother. I wondered who it was and I was so happy to see - that it was Shaznee! He looked so pleased; I could see his smile through his mask. I asked him for a hug, despite covid, and he said in his goofy Shaznee way, "SURE!"
We spent just a few minutes together with Maged and Ali. We laughed, told inside jokes, and teased each other like we always do. We have never seen Shaznee look so much like himself, so relaxed, happy, and friendly. We were even lucky enough to take a photograph, unable to sense the significance of this event. I turned to Ali and said, "man, I'm not sure why, but this moment feels really special."
48 hours later, Shazness died on immediate impact after a skydiving accident in Seattle. Shaznee had performed over 80 jumps in his training and was skilled at skydiving. But it was his time. That last moment we had wish Shaznee is one of the most cherished memories for all of us.
Because of the current situation of COVID-19 world, visas, and proper Islamic burial etiquette, Shaznee's family could not attend to help prepare the body for the funeral or even attend the funeral. Imagine being in their shoes: so far away, unable to say goodbye to him in his burial place in Washington.
Shaznee was known for three things: his sense of adventure, his ultra positivity, and his ability to make anyone, even a stranger, feel like a long-lost friend, in the same loving way he spoke my name after not seeing me for six months.
He was a mountain biker, a hiker, a skydiver, a brilliant developer, a goofy friend, and a wonderful brother and son.
We will miss him dearly.
