She Gave It Her All, Now She Needs You

Meet Denise Callas Moe – my best friend of 40+ years. Last December, Denise was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, which is a type of blood cancer that affects the cells in the bone marrow. There’s no cure, but treatments can slow its spread and sometimes make symptoms go away.
On December 24th & 31st, she had tests that were needed to prepare for her treatment. Those tests the last week of 2019 resulted in what is being considered a “pre-existing” condition for 2020 and she was denied disability benefits which would have allowed her to pay her monthly bills (not including medical bills).
The system has failed her, and despite her insistence that she would “figure this out,” we cannot let this financial stress have a negative impact on her health. She underwent a stem cell transplant recently and is on the long road to recovery. THAT is what she needs to focus on.
Despite working a paycheck-to-paycheck hospital job and losing her husband at the age of 34, Denise has fought hard her entire life to not be dependent on anyone, and she did a phenomenal job raising her two young boys — one is a hard-working, kick-ass farmer, the other a well-respected firefighter/EMT.
Denise is that person who always puts others first, often sacrificing her own basic needs. I could give you multiple examples but if you are lucky enough to know her, you are nodding your head!
These are tough times for everyone, and asking for donations seems inappropriate, but, as you know, every little bit adds up. The ‘system’ may have failed her, but humanity cannot. Now more than ever we need to be there for each other in a time of need.
I’m hoping you can find it in your heart to donate ANY AMOUNT – even $5! If you cannot make a donation, I’d love it if you would share on social media......especially with fellow hospital workers, firefighters, and farmers, who I know love to support their own!
And if nothing else, please say a prayer for Denise. Prayers add up, too!
Blessings to you all!!
