She needs to be at Home

My parents are my favorite people in the world, I would do anything to help them but now they need more than I have.

My Mom, at 77, has worked her whole adult life, full time mom, full time wife, full time office worker. But now she has one more job ahead of her, full time caregiver.

My father is turning 80 this year, he has also worked since his teen years, always active and in manual labor trades. It has taken a toll on him and he can’t move much anymore without pain. He needs her home with him.

She needs to stop working, stop taking the bus from southern Maryland to Downtown DC, stop walking on a bad leg in the cold. She needs to be home.

Sandy and Mike Metcalf are the neighbors you want to have. They have been married for 56 years, have 2 great kids, 8 grandkids and even a few great grand babies. They go to church, vote regularly and keep up the hope that things will get better.

Things have gotten harder, my father needs constant care, my mother wants to be there for him but she needs to take care of herself as well. They both suffer from several age related illnesses, as well as diabetes and heart disease.

My parents are like many of us, with no savings left and the weight of debt bearing down on them. They are good people who have tried everyday to give their all to our family and we appreciate them everyday for it.
