Shea family home damage
Back in July my wife and I hired a roofing company for an insurance claim to re-shingle our roof and repair 2 closets that had a small amount of water damage from the leaky roof.
A few days after they started work we were woken up at 2:30am getting rained on. The roof was not properly covered and it rained heavily for 2 days straight before we’re could get anyone out to cover it back up. The rain flooded our house from roof to basement and destroyed everything we owned.
We were given the bad news that the roof is considered “poor workmanship” and our insurance will not be covering the cost of redoing the roof and they will also not be covering the cost of any personal belongings that were damaged or any code upgrades.
We lost a good amount of things, our beds, furniture, clothes etc are all ruined. Our 8 year old daughter lost a lot of irreplaceable things. We are currently being put up in a hotel until our house is livable again, and during this time we have to have our 5 pets spread out in kennels also.
We are not typically the type to ask for help but this is way too much for us. We need to come up with the cost to redo our roof and also replace basically all of our furniture, clothes and other personal belongings. We are hoping to get our house back to normal so our family and pets can be back home together.
On top of any out of pocket costs for the house we are also paying our attorney monthly for the lawsuit against the roofers that could take up to 2 years.
The $12k I set for a goal won’t even cover the cost of the roof and everything we lost but any amount is a good starting point. Any help we can get would be greatly appreciated, even if you cannot donate yourself, sharing this page will be a huge help.
Thank you so much,
The Shea family
