Sheila's smile

Hello.. We are friends and neighbors of this wonderful woman..Sheila is an 85-year-old neighbor who lives alone on a small social security income, all of her family is in England. She is retired schoolteacher, computer programmer and a member of our Matawan community for 44 years who enjoys reading and walking through town. You have probably seen her walking to the post office and library as she quietly goes about her day. Several weeks ago she was a victim of scammers who came to her door and took advantage of her. Our sweet neighbor was bullied for $27,000 which was almost all of her savings. On top of this financial misfortune a large tree limb took out her electric service on Tuesday, August 8th. While this was more bad news for her, it was also a blessing from God. This event alerted some concerned neighbors who cared for her while her home was repaired by a local electrician who donated all materials and labor. While performing her electric repairs we also learned that Sheila has been without a furnace for the past four winters (Think about how cold some of those were). While only a dent in what was taken from her, in a single day, Sheila's local neighbors pulled together almost $3,000 which will go towards heating her home this winter, other repairs that are desperately needed and for some basic needs. The fallen tree branch from God's hand was certainly a way of telling us that she desperately needed our help.
