She is the Moment
She is the Moment
Laugh contagious
Soul genuine
Warrior spirit
Life roots
intertwined with
creeks, streams, trails
She is mortal
too
and in this moment
healing, learning news steps
after
a misguided tango
with death
Esther's recent medical scare:
From her Facebook page (9/17):
"So I was using home remedies to heal a wound. Then yesterday I started panting and decided to head to Urgent Care: my white blood cells were crazy, and there was a lot of acid in my blood. I'm in ICU at Mayo, where I had surgery last night. I will have a second surgery tomorrow. A surgeon said my condition would have been fatal if I'd waited two days longer. I'm happy to be alive. The staff is great. Basically I sleep in between getting poked with needles. They brought me red Jello. I'm glad I paid attention to my inner voice that actually asked me if I wanted to be dead in three days. I look forward to healing and taking the best care of myself and getting professional help when needed. Take care of yourselves."
Esther did not need to need the second surgery, as she is healing nicely. She will, however, require continued medical care to tend to her wound, help her heal, and learn how to address a new medical issue she learned about in the hospital: Diabetes, Type II. She has been at the New Prague Mayo Women's Health Center for 10 days.
Esther is one who continually gives to her community in loving, beautiful, moving, and transformative ways. We set up this site with her permission. Healing itself is a challenge, but when, in addition, one is unable to work during this time and does not have sick or vacation days to bank, additional challenges are added. If you are able to do so, please consider making a contribution so Esther can focus on her healing and be less concerned about personal and medical expenses.
Peace, love, and gratitude.
