Help Shelly get her Michigan Drivers License Restored

Hey there. My name is Shelly Lyons Mac. I’m raising funds to get my license restored. It was revoked in 2003 because of a drunk driving arrest. Since then I have not had any further driving infractions and I have managed to build my life into something quite successful, but I’ve hit a wall. I’ve accomplished things like teaching my own rehabilitation course at a local faith based facility, become a seasoned public speaker, over came addiction, recidivism, human trafficking, and a litany of other challenges. Recently University of Michigan created an Artist Web Page for me that can be found on the LSA PCAP website, which is a huge honor. I’ve also hosted many art events, became a successful community organizer and received awards from the State of Michigan for community service. Got hired by MDOC to be a peer support specialist for returning citizens ( that comes with NO paycheck). The list goes on and on. Without a license I am unable to continue the renewal of my life and the growth cycle that I’m feeding everyday.

As you can imagine gathering funds for myself is quite a challenge without transportation. I just missed out on a 40k per year job because I have no license.

Please help me reach my goal so that I’m able to pay for the expensive testing required by the Secretary of State in order to get my license back. I’ve also added a bit extra to the amount to cover any fees they might charge along with renewal.

Why should you care? Why should you help me?

Because I have become an asset to my community and I want to help others navigate their way through some of the same challenges that I’ve overcome and if you care about the community you live in you will know that we need people like me who are willing to step up and help others. There are many others stuck in those destructive cycles and they need peer support.
