Hello Everyone, this Kristie Shelly’s daughter.

On April 30th my mom was supposed to be on her way to spend the day with my son Jax. After she didn’t arrive and no phone calls, Jim (her husband) came home to find her sleeping which ended up being the full day and night into Sunday. This was very abnormal for her so after waking her up Sunday he knew something was wrong. It was apparent she was having hallucinations and started having seizures. This all came out of nowhere! He had brought her immediately into the ER and unfortunately after an MRI and CAT scans, 2 brain tumors were found which were later diagnosed as Glioblastoma.

She then underwent a biopsy for the surgeon to determine a the best path for removal and it was decided they would need to do 2 separate surgeries. The first one was an awake craniotomy so they could monitor her motor skills, which was 90% removed and she has all motor skills! She had a 2 week break and then went back for the second craniotomy which 95% was removed along with no other issues. After that surgery the surgeon came out to tell us the second tumor had changed from the MRI and was low grade! This was such great news to hear.

She is now on her 4th week of chemo and radiation which she goes in for at Regions, 5 days a week and (so far) is doing amazing. We are celebrating and rooting for her each day at a time. As you can imagine this has been incredibly difficult news for all of us to still grasp at this point but she is continuing to remain resilient in her strong positive out look and unwavering in her faith in God. Jim has been the most amazing support and caregiver to her and is by her side each and every day through all the good, bad and ugly that comes with this. We have a long road ahead but believe in all the prayers and positivity we can give her so she will remain so strong and fight this.

She has many restrictions and will not be able to work for quite a while. After 3 brain surgeries, chemo, radiation and many other appointments between the medical bills have become quite significant. Every bit of financial support will go a long way for them to help pay the continuing medical bills and will be so greatly appreciated.

I am so thankful for her positive attitude, her amazing husband, the great doctors, and her HUGE support system. Thank you to everyone being the community we need and loving all of us so much during this time.
