Shelly needs our support!

Shelly Fontaine is very ill.

I know she’s not going to like this—to say the least!—but I’d like to shine the spotlight on her for a moment. Shelly’s been a great, great friend to many people in downtown L.A. and beyond. I don’t need to remind any of you about her selfless and caring ways. That said, she could really use everyone’s love and support at this moment.

She’s endured two surgeries, a bone biopsy, is currently undergoing aggressive hormone therapy, and will soon begin chemo. At this point, her cancer has unfortunately metastasized. She’s unable to work due not only to this disease, but to the crippling side effects of her treatments.

Besides the health concerns, she’s facing a lot of economic uncertainty. She’s now on permanent disability, her ex-employer is asking her to pay a non-discounted rate for her health insurance, and they’re also expecting her to pay an exorbitant amount for life-extending treatments. It’s just too much.

Can we all please pitch in so Shelly can enjoy some time, any amount of time, free from monetary stresses? It’s the least we can do, and we all know Shelly would do the same for any one of us.
