Shelly's Missions Trip to Senegal

Did you know that out of the nearly five million Wolof people in Senegal, West Africa, only one percent are Christians, and there is no indigenous church? The Wolof are a primarily Muslim people and closed to the Gospel. Young Wolof women are expected to work at home and have little time for an education, leaving them illiterate and with little hope for the future.
Gateway Fellowship (my church) has concentrated on the Wolof people as a missions focus for over 8 years. Our goals are to build connections with this people group and to support the development of an indigenous Wolof church. This summer I have the opportunity to return to Senegal for two main purposes: Ministry at the girl’s vocational center and speaking at a Senegalese kid’s camp.
In the first two weeks of my trip I will be returning with the team to the Christian girl’s vocational school (Yoonu Njub) in St. Louis, Senegal. This school is special because it serves girls ages fourteen through twenty-two, and gives them a basic education along with home economics and other life skills to help them live productive independent lives. They are also taught a series of Bible stories throughout the year introducing them to the love of Jesus. The end of this time will be spent bringing the girls on a Bible retreat where we will be able to interact with them one-on-one to share Jesus.
For the second phase of my trip, I have been invited to extend my time in country, in order to speak at a kid’s camp run by our friends from a local Senegalese church. These extra two weeks will be spent prepping, training and then speaking at the camp. I am extremely honored to be a part of this ministry, and I greatly covet your prayers!
Would you consider partnering with me in this mission through prayer and/or financial support? There are many ways to be a part and I would love your help.
Asalaam Alekum (Peace be to you),
