Shelter for our E. Dallas Homeless Neighbors

If you have ever been to the our warehouse, you know there is a large homeless population nearby. With the current cold front moving in (low temps in the single digits!), our neighbors are in dire need of a warm place to stay. 

Unfortunately, many shelters are at full capacity and some churches are no longer taking in the homeless due to the pandemic.

Today and tomorrow, Eastside Gems will be taking steps to place our homeless neighbors in a nearby hotel for the next several days until the front passes.

We will be meeting with our homeless neighbors tomorrow to determine how many people are still stuck out in the cold. 

If you are interested in joining this cause, any help would be greatly appreciated! 

In the meantime, stay safe and warm, friends. 

Update: My husband, Derek VerHagen, will withdraw the Go Fund Me account so that we can begin paying bills for the hotels, food, clothing, hygiene product and winter gear we have already purchased on our personal cards.
