Shelter for the Homeless and DV Victims

We are a women's group named Links to Legacy, headed by Romola Moodley. The name Links to Legacy was based on the premise of:
Psalms 145:4: “Let every generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power”.
Presently, if we look around us and at the world at large, all we see is a huge deviation from what living used to be in those good old days and from what it is today. There has been an enormous shift from self-sacrifice to self-fulfillment. Every turn we take, we see, smell, or hear SELFISHNESS.
We know we cannot change the world, but we can start somewhere. We can at least aim to change those closest to us like our children and family and hope to leave a legacy that will hopefully have a ripple effect of unselfish behavior.
We started this group just after Covid in September 2020. We are a team of immigrants from South Africa who feel blessed to be living in Australia and have a desire to give back to our community. Our vision and heartbeat are to empower the powerless and unite women of all ages. Our aim is not to recreate the wheel but rather to Link up with existing organizations in the community and offer our services, which we have been doing for the last 3 years. We worked with Help for the Homeless, Hope Starts Here, etc.
My husband and I have recently purchased an acreage in Cedar Creek and we have decided to give part of this land to build a Shelter for the Homeless and DV Victims which will fall under the Rooming Legislation.
There is an existing house on the acreage which we plan to convert into 8 rooms to start the project. These 8 rooms will be occupied by 8 women whereby each woman will have their room, a shower facility, and a kitchenette to give them a sense of belonging and some dignity.
We have already started the project and started building a carer's cottage. So, to complete this project, we need tradies, building materials and funds to finance the architect, town planner and builder.
Let’s start the journey to building an unselfish world, and focus on someone else’s needs other than yourself by volunteering either your time, talent or treasure in whichever small way you can. Remember, your small contribution can make a big difference in someone’s life.
God bless you.
