Rescuing Kenyan Street Children - Shelter Yetu
Tax deductible
We are raising money to benefit Shelter Yetu, otherwise known as Naivasha Children's Shelter. This shelter is about 2 hours from Nairobi in the town of Naivasha. My daughters, Olivia and Sadie, will be volunteering at the shelter for an entire week while I train prisoners and staff at the local prison who are enrolled in either a paralegal or juris doctor program! Olivia and Sadie will be working with some of the most vulnerable children in the world as they have been victims to homelessness, malnourishment, trafficking, prostitution, among countless other travesties. Shelter Yetu's goal is to rescue Kenyan children from the street and provide them with skillsets and a sense of family that will aid them tremendously in their futures as Shelter Yetu searches for their families in hopes of reuniting them. We hope to raise money to support these children and this wonderful place.
We are specifically helping them to raise money to build a secure fence around their property to protect the safety of the children. They are also building a small cottage for families on the premises for which they have some funding already. This will allow them to bring families to the shelter as they work towards reunification! Any donation, no matter how large or small, will be greatly appreciated by the organization and the children.
