Like many organizations, the Sherborn Yacht Club is facing unprecedented challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. After careful consideration of state guidance and public health directives, the SYC Board has decided to cancel the 2020 instructional sailing program to keep our members, students, staff, and community safe and to reduce the spread of Coronavirus. At this time, the decision is related only to the instructional program, and we remain cautiously optimistic about salvaging some part of our summer on Farm Pond. As a result, our revenue will be down significantly. The SYC has never faced anything so disruptive in our 50-plus-year history, we've weathered many storms and we'll weather this one but not without your help. The SYC has had higher membership than ever in recent years, we've been able to move to Town Land, and we're set up for another generation of fun on Farm Pond.
Here is how you can help:
- Make a sustaining donation of $25-$50 to the SYC via GoFundMe.
Our board continues to meet regularly in search of the safest path forward for SYC, but we recognize that any path will require revenue to maintain the boats and waterfront, fund potential staff for managing these assets, and cover nominal operating expenses. The Sherborn Yacht Club is a valued community resource, and your donations will help ensure we have the option to open again, should the state guidelines on health and safety allow us to do so.
