“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.”
-Leonardo da Vinci
On October 5th, 2023, Sherief Singer tragically passed away in a car accident. A loving father of three, a devoted son and brother, and a good friend to many, Sherief's passing deeply affected a multitude of people. Though Sherief did many things in life, his true passion was aviation. He studied Aviation Science at Embry-Riddle University and the University of Western Michigan, and maintained and flew his own plane after he transitioned to a career in business.

After recovering from the initial shock of losing Sherief, his family and friends thought that the best way to honor his memory would be to introduce others to the joy of flying. Sherief began his life as an aviator at Solberg Airport in Readington Township, NJ, while attending Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington, NJ; and we'd like to give students in the area the opportunity to follow the same path. Our goal is to raise enough money for two students to earn creditable flight training hours, which they can use towards obtaining their private pilot's license. This is the first step to a career in aviation. Each student will receive the following via our scholarship fund:
1 Discovery Flight- Students will spend an hour in a small aircraft with a trained flight instructor, getting to know the basics of aviation and enjoying some impressive scenery.
1 Cessna Ground Training Kit-This is a class and a collection of materials to prepare students for lessons in an aircraft.
5 Hours of Flight Training with a professional flight instructor. These 5 hours will count towards the 40 hours necessary to obtain a private pilot's license.
Our selection process for this scholarship award will be objective and non-discriminatory, taking into account student grades, essays, recommendations, and statements of intent. Our goal is to award the scholarship in May of 2024, with students beginning their training in June of 2024. Any surplus and/or unused funds will be allocated to fund future flight training hours for students during the summer of 2025.
If you knew Sherief and remember his love of flying, please consider making a donation in his memory so that others may share his passion for the skies.
