Sherlie Home in Payakaraopeta, India
Tax deductible
For those that do not know her, my mom’s name is Sherlie Scribner; she is an angel. She founded Children’s Fund in 1997 with the vision of providing food, clothing and education to vulnerable children and orphans around the world. Two weeks ago, we visited an orphanage in Payakaraopeta, India, the Sherlie Home (Hostel), which was named after her. Children’s Fund has been the sole supporter of this site for the past 12 years. The Sherlie Home has helped raise hundreds of children during this time and currently houses 53 boys (strict government regulations led to the girls being moved to a different facility because an updated policy required that girls and boys stay in separate buildings). It warmed my heart to see the smiles on their faces and how happy, disciplined, and well-mannered these children have become. We have recently had a significant decrease in funding and will likely have to cut back our support by ~50%. I am raising money to help the Sherlie Home continue operations until we can find a longer-term solution. In the future, we would like to create a local business that will generate income so that this site can receive local support. Feel free to reach out to me if would like to help out or learn more.
Thank you
