Sherman Family Home

Please take a few minutes to watch the attached video by my brother-in-law, Robert. It explains our vision for this sweet family, and the reason for this GoFundMe project.

My name is Elizabeth Miller, born in Dallas and currently living in the Sherman-Denison area of Texas. I am blessed to be the GFM administrator for this project, and I want to share with you how to make a dream come true!

There is a wonderful family living close to us in Sherman, that escaped from war-torn Sudan, Africa about 9 years ago and settled here in north Texas. Abdelaziz, Huda and their 7 children live in a small, one-bathroom rental house, and have been saving for years to buy their own home, preferably something a little bigger! They are hard-working parents, asking nothing from others. The older children also work while going to school.

But homes in Sherman are very expensive, like many places near DFW, and are just not in the price range for this family of 9. And they aren't about to ask for any help.

But God, through another family in their church, opened a door to an affordable fixer-upper that could be perfect for them! So, we stepped out on faith and made the purchase ... and have a lot of volunteers lined up to help rebuild this old house into a great home.

What we don't have are the building materials. The house needs to be leveled and the roof replaced. It needs a new HVAC system, water heater, oven, range, sinks, and tubs. Every room needs major repairs and remodeling, especially the kitchen. It needs sheetrock, painting and flooring throughout.

With your help, we can do this project. But our volunteers can't move forward until we raise the money to start buying materials. Our ultimate goal is to raise more than $50,000. We realize that is huge, but it will provide what we need to transform this house and make a family's dreams of owning their own home come true.

Once we finish the remodeling, Abdelaziz and Huda will get the financing to purchase the house "at cost", and maybe even move in before 2023 comes to a close!
