Sherry Foster Fire Fundraiser

Donation protected
My good friend and neighbor Sherry Foster lost everything and her two beloved dogs in a fire Thursday at 9 a.m. on February 25, 2021 on Bourque Road in Lafayette, La. When firefighters arrived on the scene, her camper home was fully engulfed in flames 12 feet high and she and her two dogs were still inside.

Sherry was asleep in her camper home when she began having trouble breathing. She awoke to a room full of smoke with crackling and popping noises. Upon exiting, she discovered the fire in a storage compartment under the camper. She engaged the fire extinguisher but at that point the flames were out of control. Her two dogs, Bubba and Harley were afraid to exit the camper and they both died in the blaze.

Sherry was assessed on the scene by Acadian Ambulance for smoke inhalation and her hands were also burned fighting the flames. Both of her vehicles were also damaged by the intense heat.

Fire investigators determined an electrical failure in the storage compartment underneath the front of the camper caused the fire. Firefighters from Judice, Milton, and the Scott Fire Departments responded to the scene.

Sherry is having  to start her life all over again. She is in dire need of clothing, a place to live and funds to repair the melted parts on her Chevy Equinox SUV. Her clothing sizes are: small to medium tops, size 0-1 pants, size 7 1/2 shoes.

Her original Chevy Equinox SUV key and remote burnt in the fire. She called a locksmith to come out and make a new key which cost $300. Now the SUV keeps going into theft mode due to the door handles which melted in the extreme heat.  She is in need of a keyless entry remote to be able to lock and unlock the doors and prevent the SUV from engaging in theft mode. Her Pontiac Sunfire was too close to the fire and is completely destroyed.

Sherry has run out of what little savings she had, and the trauma of losing everything is extremely difficult for her. She is "couch surfing" with friends and is in dire need of a safe place to live and just about everything one needs to just live day to day.

Any donations, clothing , help and prayers would be most appreciated! God bless you and God bless Sherry!

Warmest regards,
