I am posting this for my Mom & Dad,
Let me tell you about my Mom; she has spent her life in service of others. she has been a nurse for 22 years. My Mom raised her children & grandchildren to believe the way you change the world is with one random act of kindness at a time. The only thing my Mom puts before her career is her family. She is never faltering and is always strong.
Last August, my parents rode to Alabama to visit my brother and his family. On the return trip, they were riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Tennessee when a hail storm came through. There was no safe place to pull over on the Parkway, so they took the first exit off. When the bike hit the concrete bridge at the end of the exit, it began to fishtail. My dad tried to regain control, but he just couldn't. My Dad grabbed my Mom's arm and pushed the bike away, which is most likely how they survived. Though they survived, they both live with deficits from the crash. My Dad suffered a few broken ribs, a mangled rotator cuff, and a concussion. My Mom suffered a torn rotator cuff, concussion, along with a great deal of cuts and bruises. Both of my parents suffer some memory deficit. My Mom once a wordsmith, has difficulty pulling words out of her memory in the simplest of conversations. She says, "small price to pay." In addition to physical injuries, my Dad suffers from PTSD; he thought my Mom died in the crash as she was lying motionless on the freeway. My parents both had surgery to repair their rotator cuffs (my mom left and dad right); again...small price to pay. However, all of the time my parents were out of work depleted all of their savings. My parents worked so hard to buy their home, which houses three generations of their family. Now foreclosure proceedings have begun. My parents are both back to work now, but I fear it is too late. They are not well off or rich in any sense of the word. They have used everything they have ever had to help their family and others in need.
My parents would never ask for help; therefore, I am asking for them. Please help my parents keep their home.
